In the past 25 years, Seiko has made a variety of watches with the nickname Monster. This SRPE27 (PADI-edition) is the one of the 3rd generation of the Monster. Monsters started as a heavy block of steel on the wrist, this SRPE27 has features of a more sophisticated diver watch, with hints (case-shape, bezel, hands) to the famous SKX781/SKX779.
The finish of this watch-case and bracelet with fitting solid end-pieces is sublime, the bezel action is perfect. The bezel is coated blue (IP-coating, long lasting). The numbers are engraved in the bezel, and filled with white paint. The lume pip is not a hole filled with lume, it is a lens with the lume applied at the bottom.
The glass is hardlex, and there is a magnifier above day/date. I am not a fan, but it does make the day/date better readable. I offer the option to replace this with sapphire (flat or double domed), do not forget to add the sapphire you want to the order! The hardlex with magnifier will also be in the package so you can always make the watch back to standard. The dial is matt black, and the lume on the indexes is white (PADI: everything glows BLUE in the dark EXCEPT the minute and lume pip in the bezel, those are GREEN). The minute and second hands are also red, a nice PADI-feature. The bracelet has solid links, with the pin+collar system, and the clasp has 4 adjustment holes and a divers’ extension.
