WATCH OUT! This is the standard (K) version. The “Made in Japan” version comes again end of May!! |
The SKX007 can be called a survivor. It has been in production in this form for over 20 years!! (because of that, this watch is the watch with the most after market parts available, many people are making modified SKX007’s). Many of these parts look nice, but they bring down the quality of your watch.
The standard choices to wear this watch with are a strong rubber (poly urethane) strap from Seiko (needs some wearing to get it to fit comfortable around your wrist) or a Seiko-Jubilee bracelet (hollow middle parts, light and comfortable). I can replace the rubber strap for a solid steel bracelet: choose “none, replace with added bracelet” when you make the order. I will replace the rubber strap (and will add the original fat push pins to use when you want something different later).
The option to add a solid steel bracelet appears in the shopping cart after you added the SKX007. (The 22mm SuperNato or Waffle are also straps that I can vouch for).
Installing sapphire is an option that is worth the extra money, it can hardly get scratched and looks clearer (some information about sapphire can be found here).
A new option is to have a signed crown installed.
Difference J and K version |
The “made in Japan” versie is more expensive. Mainly because it is harder to get. Some differences (my opinion):
|
Technically the J and K version are identical! They are both checked by the same Seiko quality standards. The PU-strap and Seiko jubilee are also the same. When I make a modified SKX, I usually start with the K-version becuause it is cheaper. |
